Great Play Adds New Games to its Unique Interactive Arena™

Stamford, CT, July 24, 2007 – For its first anniversary celebration, Great Play will be adding a host of exciting new games and activities for each age group to its amazing Interactive Arena™ this September.

For our younger Players, we will be introducing:

  • Live Cam Freeze Dance: Dance to the music with your friend Buddy, and watch yourself on a 2-wall 216 sq ft dance cam until the music stops and everything freezes.  Who has the craziest pose?!  Just when it was starting to get silly, the dance cam ups the ante, flipping the Players and spinning them around.  Need some more motivation to get moving?  The cams will make whatever’s moving glow!  Hey, my arms just turned purple!
  • Three new play worlds: Through the magic our Interactive Arena, Great Play classes and parties unfold as stories, taking the Players on a journey through sights and sounds to imaginary play worlds.  Our Players have been with us to beach parties and on hikes through the woods; we've been sledding through snowy hills and been aboard magical pirate ships.  Starting in September, Players will also journey with us into outer space, visit the animals on the Great Play farm, and visit Sir Buddy the Knight at the Fairytale Castle.
  • Players will also enjoy our low-tech enhancements – from new climbing mats to new sensory integration stations; and several new additions to our amazing 15' giant arc swings, including new rope ladders and platform swings.
  • New class: We've created a new program for Players ages 6 to 11 months. The classes are designed as a fun introduction to the world of Great Play, for parents and children alike.

For our older Players, we will be adding:

  • Center Court Play: As Players in our Athletic Development Program master new sport skills, they get repititions through specialized games at each of several unique Great Play stations. Starting in September, after Players enter the arena to a cheering crowd, each station will be turned into a pro-arena style Center Court, with a 9’ x 12’ scoreboard keeping time, counting points, and tracking the high scoring teams. When we say we turn practice into play, we mean it!
  • New class: We've added a new Seasonal Sports Class that will focus on a single sport for four weeks at a time to give Players the skills and confidence to be successful in a league or recreational setting.
  • New Throwing Walls: our patent-pending Interactive Throwing Walls are always a highlight of any class or party.  New games will be coming online this Fall, adding to bottle breaking, beach exploring, field goals, strike zones, etc.  Be the first to check them out!

Sure, like all Great Play games, these will be incredibly fun, and the Players won’t want to leave once they start playing.  That’s no surprise to any of our hundreds of Players.  But, as only parents are allowed to know, the fun masks the great secret of Great Play: that all the games and the whole curriculum are scientifically based to ensure children develop the age-appropriate motor skills that help them reach their full physical potential (okay, now you know, but just promise not to tell the kids about the science part, or use the word "curriculum").
